What is the difference between groups and events?
Events are advertised in the newsletter and, other than NextGen events, are open to all WCA members. To participate in an event, you merely need to register.
Groups are member-organized gatherings centered around a shared interest, activity, or purpose that WCA members may choose to join separately from general membership. They are NOT advertised in the newsletter. You must take the affirmative step of joining a group by emailing the group liaison and ask to be added to the group email list. You will then receive emails or invitations to participate in the group activities.
How do I find out information about WCA events, programs, and groups?
There are four sources for information:
1. For events and programs: The weekly newsletter is delivered every Thursday morning at approximately 7:45 am to your email inbox. There is now a Newsletter Archive on the website.
2. For events, programs, and groups: Visit the website at www.wcanaples.org.
3. For events and programs: Check the events listed on the WCA phone app.
4. For some events, programs, and groups (once you are a member of that group): Emailed invitations.
How do I find out what groups WCA offers?
WCA has over fifty interest groups, which are open only to members. Members can find information about the groups on the WCA website in the "Group" pages. Please note: the Wild Apricot phone app does not list the groups or group information.
Where can I find WCA policies about groups and activities, membership, code of conduct, and guests?
They are located in the website menu under "About Us."
How do I join a group?
You must request to join the group by emailing the liaison. Visit the "Group" pages for information about groups and the liaisons.
What if I no longer wish to participate in a group?
Be sure to email the liaison if you no longer want to participle in the group and ask to be removed from the email list.
Note: If you membership lapses, your name will be removed from the group email list. If you rejoin, be sure to email the Group liaison to request to rejoin the group.
How do I register for events and Programs?
There are four ways to register for events:
1. Click on the registration button in the event announcement in our weekly newsletter, sent to members’ emails every Thursday morning. This button will take you to the registration page. If you receive an error, make sure you are logged in to the website with your email and password.
2. Visit the "WCA Calendar" under "Calendars" on the website.
3. RSVP to emailed invitations.
4. Register on the phone app.
Once registered, will receive a confirmation. If you do not receive that confirmation, you have not properly registered.
Do I have to register for an event or can I just show up?
Unless otherwise stated in the event announcement, you must register to attend a program, activity, or event. Please do not just show up without registering. Some groups and events limit the number of participants due to venue size or to enable each member to have a quality experience. It is very difficult to plan for or accommodate those who are not registered.
Can I bring a guest to WCA events?
Events are for WCA members only, unless otherwise specified. Click here to see the Guest Policy.
Where can I find the events I've registered for?
When logged in to the website, wcanaples.org, you can click on your name in the upper right, above the menu bar. Clicking on your name brings up your “My Profile” page. Above “Membership Details,” click on “My event registrations.” You will be able to view a list of your future and past registrations. You can also view your registrations on the phone app under "Tickets."
Can I add my events to my personal calendar?
Yes. You can do this right from both the registration and confirmation pages, in the upper right corner.
Is it necessary to cancel my registration if I find I cannot attend?
Yes, please remember to cancel your registration as early as possible if you find you cannot attend an event. Do not be a No-Show. Event organizers and presenters are counting on your attendance. This is especially imperative for small events. Most importantly, last-minute cancellations and no-shows are unfair to women on the waitlist who are deprived of the opportunity to attend or are notified of openings too late to attend.
Note: As of September 1, 2025, there is a new policy regarding repeated no-shows. See the "Cancellation Policy."
Can I give my registration spot to a friend if I cannot attend?
No, tIckets and registrations are NOT TRANSFERABLE. If you cannot attend, you must cancel so that the next person on the waitlist can be offered a spot.
Can I cancel my registration on the website or app?
Generally, yes. However, if it is paid event, or it is too close to the event date, you cannot cancel yourself. Before cancelling a registration, please see the "Cancellation Policy" page for instructions.
If you are unable to cancel, please email the group liaison, program organizer, or help@wcanaples.org.
To cancel an unpaid event:
- Go to your events registration.
- In your event list, click on the name of the event you want to cancel.
- Click on “Already Registered.”
- On the next page, under the event summary, click the "CANCEL REGISTRATION" button.
- On the next page, you will get a confirmation of your cancellation.
FOR PAID EVENTS, DO NOT CANCEL YOUR REGISTRATION YOURSELF. Contact Arlene Sobol at asobol99@gmail.com.
Note: As of September 1, 2025, there will be no refunds issued for events costing under $25. See the "Cancellation Policy."
If you canceled a paid event by mistake, please contact help@wcanaples.org or Arlene Sobol at asobol99@gmail.com.
What do I need to do to attend events at the Nina Iser Jewish Cultural Center?
You must wear your Federation lanyard and swipe in each time you enter the building. If you do not have a lanyard, please stop by the front desk for a guest badge.
Once inside the lobby, please confirm your event's room on the schedule board, located on the left wall.
If you need assistance, the receptionist can direct you. If you are an event liaison or organizer, the receptionist holds the keys to the storage cabinets in the BBYO lounge, computer hook-up cables, and remotes. She and the staff can help with building questions and Federation badging information.
