Born and educated in Moscow, Vladimir Fridman is recognized internationally as an award-winning singer and guitarist.  Before immigrating to the United States, he was an active performer in Moscow theaters, concert halls and on Russian TV.  In 1998, he came to the United States and became a successful performer as well as a music teacher in his Fridman Guitar Studio.  Over the past several years, Vladimir has toured Europe, the Middle East, and Japan with the Jazz Balalaika Group and Transatlantic Duo, which has released six critically acclaimed albums.  The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. has invited him many times to perform on its Millennium Stage on Chanukah and other occasions.  The album Ole Guapa with Gypsy Strings won the Wammies Award.  He sings in English, Yiddish, and Russian.

For this WCA presentation and concert, Vladimir will demonstrate how Klezmer Music embraces the entire human life cycle.  He will talk about and sing pieces that you have heard all your life, as well as some you may not have heard.  Examples include Bei Mir Bist Du Shein, Argentinean and Yiddish Tangos, and of course, Tumbalalaika, among many other pieces.  Savor every moment of Jewish life through Vladimir’s expressive and poignant Klezmer music.

Mr. Fridman has generously offered to donate a portion of the proceeds from the sale of his two CDs; Klezmer Reflection and Spanning The Globe, to the Jewish Federation of Greater Naples for all CDs purchased within two weeks of this performance. For ordering details, click here.
